Two brothers invite their friends to join them on a holiday at their camp in the beautiful deserts of Abu Dhabi. Many adventures follow, including motorcycle racing over the golden desert sands. But after an exciting day of racing, Robert noticed brilliant flickering lights in the distance in the evening sky. As the four looked around the starry skies, Fahad looked to the west and saw similar flickering lights.The mystery of the strange and brilliant lights captures the curiosity of Robert and Fahad, and they set off on a quest to solve the strange light occurrences. Robert sets off on foot toward the east,and Fahad travels on foot to the west, both eager to unravel the secret of the lights. The two brothers, Hamdan and Khamis, agree to wait at the camp, but they are concerned for their friends' safety. And rightly so!
The novella captures perfectly the beautiful scenery of the desert and also grabs the reader, who will be entranced by the story of the mysterious blinking lights that deceptively appeared at first to be stars, twinkling in the night sky. The friendship of the young men is a wonderful part of the story, and as Robert and Fahad investigate the lights, the brothers remain at the camp and worry, as their friends seem to have disappeared.
You will enjoy the mystery, the warm friendships, and the excitement and dangers as the pieces eventually fit. You will also enjoy the vivid descriptions of the delicious barbecued meal at the secluded desert camp, set in the serene and beautiful desert dunes.
I enjoyed tremendously The Mystery of the Lights, and I was drawn into the story for the intrigue, the beautiful setting, and the wonderful narrative. The novella is a swift read and a perfect introduction to the Robert and Fahad series.

I felt like I was reading the work of an eight year old.
The author has the sense of adventure and the tools that are used appropriately to grab and pull the reader's attention for each twist of the story, I strongly recommend the book for those who are searching for amusement stories and thrills.

The Mystery of the Desert Lights (Robert and Fahad #1) by Mohd Sulaiman is probably the second mystery novel I've read in my life. The first was Partners in Crime by Agatha Christie. I read it when I was about 20 because I really liked the BBC miniseries. In the last year I've ran across some mysteries that I haven't read yet, but plan too, so The Mystery of the Desert Lights (Robert and Fahad #1) is a good reintroduction for me to the mystery genre after a very long hiatus.
I liked this novelette. The setting was interesting. I would have liked more details about the characters. Perhaps in upcoming books the author will tell more about their backgrounds. He does give a very short description of the two main characters, Robert and Fahad, at the back of the book.
